The Do’s & Don’ts when purchasing a stroller

A stroller is one of the biggest and most important purchases you will make when preparing for your little one, so do it right.  At Baby’s World all our Store Advisors have been through this tough decision, so you have the chance to ask real experts.

Baby’s World moms have told us that there are two very important rules to follow: Buy quality for best longevity and ensure the stroller matches your lifestyle.

If a European stroller is properly maintained it should last through all of your children, and give you something to sell or give away at the end. Consider your selection carefully and again, match it to your lifestyle.

Lifestyle and Convenience
At Baby’s World we’ve heard it all, sometimes over and over again. Here’s some of our learning:

A stroller is something you use almost every day.  If it doesn’t match your lifestyle you will be very unhappy, and it could get very expensive.  Especially if you find yourself needing to purchase accessories or a different stroller to make your life easier.

If you do most of your walking on a dike or gravel, don’t purchase a small wheel concrete stroller.

If you’re a city dweller who enjoys small shops or malls you may want to reconsider the jogging stroller (note:  most jogging stroller owners don’t jog).

If you do both, you may want to consider an All Terrain three wheeled stroller like a Bob or Phil & Ted’s.  Bottom line is, the stroller must match your lifestyle.

Think about your vehicle (dads pay attention to this!)
No one wants to buy a new car or truck to fit a stroller.  Make sure it folds small enough to fit comfortably into the vehicle you own, and doesn’t consume all the space so there’s still room left for groceries and other necessities.

Weight
Simple:  Make sure you can lift the stroller comfortably. Being a new parent is hard enough without back pain.  Also, consider where you will store the stroller.  If you lack space, think hard so that your final decision is one you can live with… happily.

We are not created equal
For all you tall people out there, ensure that the stroller fits you, and that the handle is high enough so you’re not slouching or kicking the frame.  Test the stroller before you buy.
